I am standing as an independent candidate for election to the Town Council in the May elections. Having spent a lot of time walking around Moreton and enjoying the beauty of this part of the Cotswolds, I’ve become distinctly aware of some of the challenges it now faces as we come out of this latest (last?) lockdown, and rather than just point them out or moan, I felt I could help do something about it.
I started getting more involved with the council last year when I did some research to find out more about the RBL/Transport Centre project and published a document (independently) to help clarify the opportunity that was up for grabs.
In the last elections we ended up with quite a divided council, which resulted in little progress on the right priorities. It’s my hope that myself and the other successful candidates will be able to form a Town Council that can work together on the key issues that the Town faces.
We have lived here for over 6 years, having moved to the town to raise our family and our two daughters go to a local school. For anyone reading this, well you may have seen us walking our two miniature dachshunds around town. One of them is a bit anxious and does tend to bark at anything bigger than her (which is everything) so apologies for that!
We took on an allotment last year during lockdown no.1 and we are really enjoying getting our fingers green – hopefully this year we will harvest more than just a few carrots and potatoes.
